The Colonial Law in a Comparative Perspective and the Heritage of Colonialism: Crisis and Future of the European Identity / Le droit colonial dans une perspective comparée et l’heritage colonial: crise et futur de l’identité européenne

The Conference aims at the analysis  of the Euro- Mediterranean policies and the assessment of the causes of their current crisis. In particular the enormous flows of migrants represent an extraordinary challenge for the EU and future of Mediterranean countries.
In this frame it will be necessary to acknowledge the colonial legacy and the continuity of colonialism with the Euro-Mediterranean relationships since the establishment of the EEC in 1957.
These topics will be considered according to two approaches: a) the European historical and political debate about the colonial law and the colonial heritage and b) the analysis of the perspectives of the Euro-Mediterranean relations after the failure of the «Arab springs» with the only exception of Tunisia.

Il Convegno mira ad analizzare le politiche euro-mediterranee e a valutare le cause della loro attuale crisi. In particolare gli enormi flussi di migranti rappresentano una sfida straordinaria per l’UE e per il futuro dei paesi mediterranei.
In questo contesto sarà importante riconoscere l’eredità coloniale e la continuità del colonialismo con le relazioni euro-mediterranee a partire dalla creazione della CEE nel 1957.
Questi temi saranno affrontati secondo due approcci: a) il dibattito storico-politico europeo sul diritto coloniale e sull’eredità coloniale e b) l’analisi delle prospettive euro-mediterranee dopo il fallimento delle “primavere arabe”, con la sola eccezione della Tunisia.
